ACS Fall 2023 board and council summary

In conjunction with ACS Fall 2023, the American Chemical Society Board of Directors met on Aug. 11 and 12, councilors convened 16. A number actions votes took place during these sessions. At board directors meeting, six journal editors were reappointed; three new named; approval was granted for Prism Award, which will recognize a public figure or prominent leader in their field who has background chemistry but is working different not practicing chemist; 2024 Perkin Medal nominee approved. hybrid council approved adding international representation to directors. One director-at-large seat convert into that role, so there be five rather than directors-at-large. next meeting October, majority must vote adopt change.
